Right now, animal care specialists with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona are in the process of evaluating the 752 small dogs and 36 exotic birds taken from an Avra Valley home yesterday in what investigators believe is a case of animal hoarding. Some of the dogs are currently being offered for adoption.

On Monday, HSSA accepted 96 animals from the property. Yesterday, HSSA teams rescued 656 dogs and 36 birds and transported them to our Companions for Life center (3465 E. Kleindale Rd). The facility, traditionally used for public education and training, has been converted to house and feed the additional animals.

Bear is a beautiful 7 year-old Shepherd/Chow-Mix who knows how to sit, lay down, and shake. He is very sweet and well-mannered and is looking for a home today! Bear has been with us since January 2008.
